Rambling Updates

Hi beauties!

I hope your weekend (last weekend) was really good.  Mine was great, very very busy with the shower, which I promise promise to update you on.  In short, it was absolutely gorgeous.  The cake was one of the best parts, and I froze some, plus its siblings, the cupcakes.

A few rambling updates on this…I think this posts on Thursday, right?  Am I breaking the fourth wall?

  • I have been living in a Lululemon tank and tights for the past two months.  I have to get dressed for meetings, like for the director’s meeting tomorrow, which is a bummer, because I’d really rather be in some buttery activewear.
  • Instagram has a “stories” feature now, similar to Snapchat’s.  Trying to decide how I feel about that.  I really like Snapchat because I have major FOMO and other peoples’ lives are way more interesting than mine.
  • I am missing running a lot.  I am still doing other things, but running became really really painful a while back, and I really really miss it.  It makes me said to think about, and I want to get back to some distance once I’ve recovered enough.
  • Measles have made a landing in Wake County (here).  If you’re a reader in this country, double check to make sure your MMR is up to date.  Especially if you’re one of my college students.  And while you’re at it, make sure your whooping cough and meningitis are where they’re supposed to be.
  • I’m extremely anxious about maternity leave and I almost don’t want to leave because I’m afraid my department will decide they’re better off without me, group fitness will be dismantled, or any other combination of scenarios that my mind is putting together.

  • Are you a huge ice cream fan?  I’ve been seeing this Halo Top stuff all over Instagram.  I grabbed the strawberry yesterday.  Not bad, and you don’t remotely need to eat a pint of it to feel satisfied.

Those are my random updates.  What are you up to?  Random things only.

Random things Friday.

It’s been a while since I’ve done a post like this, but I think these posts are really good because they give you an accurate picture of what goes on inside my brain. Which is a LOT. And I don’t necessarily mean in the MENSA way, I mean in the ADD, pass the Adderall kind of way.

Onto the random things!

1. I wanted to run long on Thursday morning, but I fell asleep with a pretty severe headache and a touch of a sore throat. I almost NEVER get sick so it was sort of alarming. I woke up yesterday morning after some pretty fitful dreams, with an even bigger headache, and I spent most of the morning on the couch answering some emails and chugging coffee and water to try and get the headache to go away/flush some of that nasty stuff out of my body.

2.  I noticed some people who ran Tobacco Road had posted some of their times and photos from the race.  Check out this proof!

So I ran 13.1 miles after arriving at a race late, and since I was late I could not check a bag.  this means I had my jacket (that was wayyyy too expensive for me to ditch), my water, and my phone, all with me.  Oh well, race ended well despite some residual soreness from having to fight my way up from the back of the pack during the race.  Check out that lobster red face!

3.  I think I found some tickets in a really good section of Stevie Wonder in Newark in April to surprise my dad with.  For the most part I don’t think my dad reads this blog super often.  If he happens to be reading today my surprise is ruined.  Also, is there a reason why ticket scalpers need to make all of our lives extremely difficult by buying up all the tickets?  A lot of times they have to drop the price down in the final days before the concert.  That has to be stressful.  Is that worth it?  Can’t they be normal people and get a second job that requires not gumming up Ticketmaster for the rest of us?

4.  CamelBak Eddy

I drink out of this thing on the regs. All sorts of watery beverages. Water, sparkling water. You know, I get pretty crazy. Well I happened to be looking at the bite valve on this thing last week, and it was full of mold. Which is kind of terrifying. But also explains why ::knock on wood:: that I’ve not been really sick in a long time.  Like I don’t count a little sore throat that I’m dealing with now.  But I’ve been ingesting all sorts of disgustingness while I’ve been trying to stay hydrated for some time.  Gross.  Also intriguing.

5.  My performance appraisal is next week.  Eep.  I hope it goes well.  It kind of makes my stomach hurt to think about it.  I’ve done a good job at my job, and I love my job, but I know there are things I can improve on.  And I want to take the time between this PA and next years to kill it even harder.

Tell me one random thing!

My sister is getting married tomorrow + random things Friday

Surprise!

My little sister is getting married tomorrow in South Carolina, so tomorrow morning, while all you sleepy-heads are sleeping, I am going to pack myself up, head down, and snap a few photos of my little sister getting hitched.

siblings

Deb is the one on the far right, and this photo was taken when she was the white rabbit in her middle school’s production of Alice in Wonderland.  We were all so little.  And now, she’s getting married like WHAAAA!  It’s so short notice, but I was able to get a sub for my usual Saturday Zumba class and the drive is only about three hours and twenty minutes.

Random things Friday:

A few random things.

  • After a ton of trail running and running in the heat, I think my right calf muscle has had enough of chronically being dehydrated in this heat, and uneven running surfaces, because it was cramping something fierce.

foam rollingI managed to find the poor foam roller at the gym, and I found the trigger point and released a lot of the tension and cramping I was feeling.

  • I’m overwhelmed by the congrats I’m getting on my new job! I am so excited to have the job, and now that the cat is officially out of the bag, I’ve gotten a lot of congratulation emails, a lot of hugs, and a lot of high fives.  However, I’m feeling a little overwhelmed and I’m terrified that I’m going to do a bad job at my new job.  And I want to do a good job, I want to stay there for like five years and be the best person they’ve ever had for the job.  Is that too much to ask?
  • I fell asleep in fully sweaty dirty clothing from teaching a class last night and that’s disgusting.  I know it.  But I feel asleep watching “The Challenge” on MTV, and I woke up like at midnight, and I could barely even drag myself into bed.  If it comes as any consolation, I did have the wherewithal to put clean clothes on, and I will be washing my sheets today.
  • We met with the photographer from Blest this morning at Bob Evans, and it was greatThey have really put my mind at ease as it relates to the photos, and I’m positive we are in good hands.  As a total side note, our server was the worst and would disappear for like, decades at a time.
  • I’m trying not to mentally check out at work because I recognize that although I have put my two weeks in, it ain’t over just yet, and I need to give it one last final push.
  • I want to get a GOOD chunk of wedding things done this weekend.  That means a good chunk of invites, some more stems for my bouquets, and paying a few of my vendors the other half of the deposit I owe them.

Tell me something random about today!

I must confess!

That my loneliness!

Is killing me now-how-how-how-how….

^^Finish the above lyric, and you get a prize.

By prize, I mean no prize btws, cause I’m just too tired to do a giveaway at this particular juncture.  Maybe I will do more giveaways when I’m married and I have all the time in the world (ha ha to that) but not today.

Also, remember when Britney Spears ruled the world?  And then 2008 happened, poor thing.  I’m glad she’s just bopping around now, recording when she feels like it and making it work.  My personal favorite in her discography was…

Okay, enough of me blathering on however, let’s move onto my confessions. I’m feeling chatty again this week, so you guys get more confessions from me!

>>I’m starting to fall for trail running.  I went out to the state park twice this week with a friend, and I love it, except for it’s a lot more technical than just running around the city, and I tripped a lot.

photo (31)

>>I twisted my ankle running the trail yesterday, but since I was a friend, and didn’t want to look like a huge baby, I didn’t want to stop, and it really felt better after we got going for a while.  But it is really tender today!

>>My carpets desperately need to be vacuumed and shampooed (thank you pets and pet hair).  I need help!

>>This week, and honestly, the past few weeks have been really tough at my job.  Like almost breaking-point tough.  But running, and focusing on other things has made it bearable, but only slightly so.

>>I love this blog.  I love blogging.  I hope to do it til the wheels fall off 🙂

>>I went to work with no makeup on.  I was running late (surprise surprise), and no one had a comment, so I think I will try the no-makeup thing a little more often!

>>I started Proactiv + last week, and I think it’s clearing up the mess on my forehead.  It’s drying, and I knew that my skin can be sensitive to that, so I’ve only been washing with it once a day, every other day, and I’m feeling the results!

>>I went to bed in my clothes again last night. Please don’t judge me. I woke up in a beautiful dress this morning and actually considered going to work in it if I threw a blazer over the top.

Yo turn!  What do you confess?  The only rules are there ain’t no rules 🙂

5 random things I’ve done since Friday.

I totally stole this idea from DC Rainmaker, except he was in France this past weekend and I was in hell, getting coldly rained on all weekend.  No joke, I literally almost took all my important things (so my dogs), put them in my car, and drove to my sister’s place in Florida.  Ugh.  But no complaints, it was beautiful enough today for me to run 15 miles with some good friends, so as long as it stays this way, I will be a happy lady.  So here it is, 5 random things I’ve done since Friday.

1.  I ran 15 miles with one of my best friends from high school, and someone from work.  The weather was gorgeous, I had my little hydration backpack on, and my stomach held out for 15 beautiful miles.  The run also made me think of how much better a run is when you can socialize.  Don’t get me wrong, sometimes you need a run on your own to sort through some things that you might be going through, but sometimes, the best convos can be had on a long run.  Afterwords, Milania (high school bestie) and I cooked an organic cheese pizza, doused it in hot sauce, and slammed a beer while I taught her how to foam roll.

2.  I painted my nails this color.

41fpjFgEZ5L._SX425_The color is Peach Daiquiri by Essie, and it’s so gorgeous for spring.  I’m obsessed with nail stuff, so my nails are always painted, but this one looks the best with my skin, and garnered a few compliments at work.  Plus since I’m wedding saving, it was a little cheaper than heading to the salon for a full mani/pedi.

3.  I ran the steam cleaner again.  My friends really make fun of me for this, but with a lot of pets, especially a new foster who’s a little nervous around the house, I had to run it again to prevent the carpet from getting stained from an accident, and to prevent that creepy ‘Hoarders’ smell.

4.  My husband-to-be and one of his best friends wore similar shirts to dinner.  Except Derek tucked his in, so I had Austin tuck his in, and made the two pose for a pic after dinn on Friday night.

Handsome blue is my husband-to-be.  Handsome orange is Derek, a good friend.

5. I think I picked a gift for my bridesmaids.  None of which who I’ve officially alerted to the fact that they’re bridesmaids, so I hope they all say yes.  If they do, they probably will get this, or something similar.

n196gf_on_the_mark_necklace_2I love jewelry like this, and rest-assured, I will probably buy one for myself, and grab one to give away on the blog since you guys make me so happy.  What do you think of this delicate little piece?

Tell me one really really random thing about you.

Also, stay tuned, I have a really really exciting interview coming up, and you guys will totally not want to miss this!
