Who are you?
You could have read the “About” page, and maybe you did. It wasn’t enough, right? I am a 20-something who enjoys working out, running, beers, and bikinis. But most of all, I enjoy bringing the little bit that I do know about health, fitness, and life in general to women (and not just women, men are allowed too), looking to make similar changes in their lives.
Where are you?
Wouldn’t you like to know. Just like, read around, you’ll figure it out soon enough.
What got you interested in this stuff?
Don’t giggle at this part. But I started working at a weight loss camp in the summer of 2010. This is the part where people usually say, “fat camp?! Like in ‘Heavyweights?!'” I cleaned up my diet, started teaching mad fitness classes, lost weight, gained confidence and a boatload of knowledge, and now, here I am, blogging and take selfies for the sake of our collective fitness.
How do you know so much about running? What makes you a specialist?
I’m not just a runner. I work at a running specialty retail store in Raleigh, North Carolina. I’m certainly not an expert, but I know a little more than the average Jane, as we strive to learn as much as we can about gait, gait analysis, and then which shoe will work for each individual customer and why. We learn about each of the major brands of shoes (Adidas, Asics, Brooks, Nike, Mizuno, New Balance, Saucony), what technology they’re currently using, and where the technology is headed. I also know a pretty good deal about running apparel, accessories, and nutrition.
What do you do in your off time?
Well I think you know I run. I yoga. I cycle. I write. I LOVE to write. I love to read. I social medium (is that a verb?), meaning I Facebook, Tweet, Instagram, Vine, and for those of you looking to connect with me in a professional capacity, I LinkedIn (hey Dad!).
I hate to feel like I’m missing out on something, so I’m constantly watching the news or listening to NPR.
I love reality television, most specifically, reality telly featured on the E! network or on Bravo. This encompasses Keeping up with the Kardashians, America’s Next Top Model (earlier seasons), The Real Housewives of: Miami, DC, Beverly Hills, New York, New Jersey, and the all-time fave, Atlanta, Watch What Happens Live (Andy Cohen is my American Idol), Millionaire Matchmaker, Shahs of Sunset, Courtney Loves Dallas, and it will include Toned Up when it premieres in January. I usually DVR it and watch it while I’m supposed to be folding laundry.
Now I recognize that all of that doesn’t make me sound terribly educated, so keep in mind that I do have a job and a Masters degree. I’m actually very bright, but my choice in telly wouldn’t necessarily give that away.
