Here’s What! Puppy edition!

So today’s “Here’s What” is a little bit different because this Friday is a very very special Friday.

First and foremost, Happy Friday, and a big huge congrats to all the participants in this year’s Boston Marathon.  I know a few folks here in Raleigh that raced and finished, and I’m so proud of their huge accomplishment.  Here are two of my friends who did it!  Congrats to them!

Hokay.

So earlier this week, I posted a little teaser to Instagram…

So are you curious yet?  Do you want to know what it’s about?

So, let’s back it up to March 1st of 2014, when a friend of a friend adopted a dog from a shelter.  The dog was underweight, a Belgian Malinois, which is sort of akin to a German Shepard.  So the dog’s Mama, Andrea, was sitting with her on the couch on Saturday night when the dog had an “accident”.

Before long, Andrea realized that the “accident” on the couch was no accident, and that Georgia, the dog, was delivering 7 puppies!

Unfortunately, one of the puppies was lost, but Andrea successfully delivered 6 healthy little puppies, 3 boys and 3 girls and is letting them stay until they’re weaned off their mama.  Wanna see?

Those little tongues!

So here is the deal with these precious little bundles.

They were be available to be adopted in about 6 weeks.

Andrea WILL NOT adopt them out to just anyone.  If you are interested in adopting them, please shoot me an email – Cheri.Armour@gmail.com.  I will forward your information over to Andrea, and she is prepped to vet you, because even though she would love to keep these pups herself, she physically cannot do it.

This is what I’m obsessed with today.

What are you obsessed with this Friday?

Here’s What is baaaack!

Last friday, I wasn’t feeling particularly inspired, and didn’t feel like pretending I was obsessed with anything, so I skipped it, but she’s baaack!  I’m obsessed with more stuff!

So, now, if you missed the last few posts, here they are 🙂

Okay, so onto my obsessions.

1.  Kombucha.  I have been obsessed with kombucha for a very very long time, but I’m not sure I’ve ever written about it.  So prior to trying GTs Kombucha, I’d tried a few other brands after this girl at work told me it would magically fix a hangover, and it tasted terrible.  And then, someone introduced me the Cosmic Cran flavor of Synergy Kombucha, and I was totally hooked.  There is not a flavor I’ve had that I’ve hated, and the best day to describe it is that it’s kinda like a fruity carbonated drink with a little hint of vinegar.  It’s an ancient tea that basically feels like it works on your insides, kinda the same way that Activia does and resets everything to where it’s supposed to go.  The bottle I’m drinking, at 60 calories a bottle, isn’t hard on the waistline either!  So when I wrote to them and told them how positively obsessed I was with their product, they sent me a really nice note, plus a coupon for a free bottle.  Yum!  I’m enjoying it now!  If you can afford it, I’d drink one a few times a week and see if your tummy doesn’t feel magnificent!

2.  Prior to running Rock ‘n’ Roll USA, I was at the book store at purchased Demi Lovato’s book, Stay Strong, which is a daily devotional type situation.  It’s not religious, but it’s inspirational, and it’s really cool to have a cool book that a beautiful, talented young woman has written.  I love it.

3.  The Positive Pit Bull.    I was in North Hills at the Starbucks, and walked around the corner to Woof Gang Bakery, where I get Coco’s treats from when I ran into the literal cutest Pit Bull lady I’d ever seen in my life.  As it turns out, the Positive Pit Bill, a Raleigh non-profit that works to change the image of pit bulls, and get pit bulls a lot of them who are at kill shelters here, adopted.  I’m promise you that for a second, I tried to take one of the dogs home until I thought of what my husband-to-be might say.  Check out some of the photos I snapped!

This is the one that I fell in love with.  Hey, Postive Pit, if she’s still available, and you don’t think she will eat my little poodle mix, can you hook us up?  I can’t stop thinking about her!

Okay.  So what three things are you obsessed with this Friday?

My love affair with reality television.

I’d say I have some pretty good things going for me.  I’m at least moderately attractive.  I’m very in shape, and I have a nice(ish) personality, right?

Don’t answer that.

But I have a really, truly dark secret.  I have a love affair with reality television.

Off the top of my head, here are a few quality programs I have watched in the past few years.

  • Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.

tumblr_lnv56gJkIo1qbg3ylo1_r1_500

    • 16 and Pregnant
    • Teen Moms 1 and 2
    • America’s Next Top Model

antm-show-nsmbl11

  • Real Housewives of Atlanta/New York/Beverly Hills/Orange County (not sure why Andy continues to bother with Miami, and DC was horrific.)

tumblr_n29ztfhzeX1ql5yr7o1_500

  • Flipping Out with Jeff Lewis
  • Work Out with Jackie Warner
  • Party Down South (thank you Jesus for this discovery on late-night television)
  • The Millionaire Matchmaker
  • Watch What Happens Live
  • Couples Therapy
  • Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team

380887_10100318509646029_899369494_n…And these are just to name a few.

My love affair with reality television began when I was in middle school, and Road Rules (the literal best invention ever), and Real World were at the peak of their popularity.

the-real-world-oI dreamt of being on one of these shows, and I’m not sure why.  Over the summers, when we’d be home from school, MTV would play marathons for days and days, and I would watch them all, hoping that my mother would not find out about my strange addiction (which I don’t watch, funny enough).  I once auditioned for the X-Factor, made it pretty far, and had my dreams crushed before the season started.  Glad it didn’t work out though 🙂

Please ladies, tell me I’m not the only one in this boat.  Are you addicted to terrible reality telly?  Which shows are your faves?

Here’s what. What three things are you obsessed with?

You guys literally get so much of me today, you probably can’t stand it right?  So last week, I did my “Here’s What,” as a tribute to the great Andrew Cohen, the executive producer of like, so much amazing stuff on Bravo.  And here we are, back again for the second round on Friday.

So, here’s what.

  • Buying these Oreos last night.

P1160151

I think I told you guys that Oreo was coming out with two limited edition flavors.  One of them is like super weird, so I really couldn’t bring myself to try them, but last night, after a friend alerted me of their arrival to the local Food Lion, I grabbed them on the way home from class, and waited until after dinner to try them.  The verdict?  They wasn’t all dat.  They wasn’t all dat at all, and they’re really too sweet for anyone to be feeding them to their children.  I’m still convinced that the best part of the Oreo is that outside cookie part.

  • Veggie Dinner.

P1160153

I’ve talked to you guys about my love of veggie dinner, which is when you heat up a bag of vegetables, throw some protein in it (like some tofu or an egg), and then you eat it.  Low-cal, easy, and a good way to get back on track if you feel like you’ve been eating nothing but crap all day.  Veggies and Oreos.  My kinda lady.

  • And finally, I can’t believe I’m saying this, but the treadmill has been a good friend for the past few weeks.  In case you’ve been out of touch with the mainland here, last week the weather in North Carolina was atrocious, especially by southern standards.  Running outside was not only really uncomfortable, but it also sorta dangerous.  We don’t have equipment to really plow a whole lot of snow and ice, so a lot of the sidewalks, trails, and driveways were totally iced over for the week.  So that said, I took to the treadmill for a few of the longer runs last week, and actually survived with the help of Netflix.  Now quite obviously, I’d rather be outside just so I don’t have to make conversation every time someone wants to use my treadmill, but I’ll take what I can.

What three things are you obsessed with this week?

I want…

This list is one of those things that’s both running and non-running related.  It’s one of those lists that I may be able to get to some of it this year, and maybe some of it not.  But it’s that list that if the stars all aligned, the money was just a-flowing, this is what I’d want.  And maybe, with the proper planning, I can make this all happen.

  • These boots.

Minnetonka 3

I had a pair, and I wore a hole through them.  I really really miss them, and I would like to get another pair.  One of these paychecks….

  • These tights to go with my Minnetonka Fringed Boots.

Winter Leggings

  • These wedding bands.  (I will probably be in possession of these August 23, 2014).
photo (9)
Two rose gold eternity bands. One on the top, one on the bottom. How pretty!!!
  • A Starbucks gift card with an unlimited balance. I would get a decaf latte with skin and two Splenda once every few days.
  • To go horseback riding.  I realized today that I have not been on a horse since 2010, and I’d love to go for a trail ride.
  • To run this.

Nike

There are a few things standing between me and this want.  One, the lottery.  I haven’t entered (it’s not open yet), it’s 26.2 miles in hilly San Fran, and tickets to San Fran ain’t cheap!

  • To have a full-time job as a fitness blogger.  Then a book.   Then a line of cocktails like Bethenny Frankely had.  Oh my god my heart just went a-flutter thinking of it.  Can you imagine?
  • This computer to blog from

overview_gallery_overview

  • A nice camera for the blog so I’m not relying on my phone for your photos.
  • For the rooms in my apartment to be painted.  I need to recruit Austin for this undertaking.
  • A dog.  A dog a dog a dog!!!  Austin says no, but I’m working on it.
  • Jackie Warner’s abs/friendship.

work-out2

And that’s about it for now.

What’s on your wishlist?

I think it’s important…

To note those little things that make you happy.  They can be stupid as all get out, but they’re not stupid if they’re important to you right?  And here it is, my list of little things that have made me incredibly blissful as of the past few days.

  1. This song, called the “Story of my Life” by One Direction.  It kind of sounds like Phillip Phillips, and I’m not shy to admit that it makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.  I told you guys earlier that I’d added that song to my running playlist, so you know it’s serious.
  2. These two Redboxes I got, Behind the Candelabara and the One Direction Movie.  I watched them on nights when I was doing a kind-of “Cheri” night, and it’s so nice to lay around and watch movies that you can dance and sing along to.
  3. This cat.
  4. photo
  5. This ring I found on Etsy the other day and I can’t find anywhere else.  And if anyone feels inclined to buy this for me, I would love it.  I’d ask Austin, but he recently bought me another ring – I think there must be some sort of statute on how long I have to wait before I ask him for more of my finds.
  6. photo
  7. Clean workout clothes.  None of which I have right now.  I need to throw a load in, but I’m busy chatting it up with you all!  But I did make a New Years Resolution to be a better housekeeper, right?  ::sigh:: Being a grown-up without a housekeeper totally blows.
  8. This brown microsuade blanket I bought when I was in college on clearance from Target.  As cold as it’s been, I’ve pulled that thing out of the guest bedroom, and I love waking up with the under-blank temp between 75-80 degrees.  Caliente!
  9. And finally, this trashy television that I’ve DVRed.  I’m a sommelier of fine tasty reality television, mainly anything that Andy Cohen has touched, but I really don’t have a whole lot of time to watch it during the week.  Laying on the bed with the cat, with Austin puttering around while I catch up on all the bad telly I’ve missed during the week makes me so insanely blissful.

So what’s making you happy this week?

What Courtney Wore – Courtney Kerr Shoutout

I will never pretend I’m a fashionista.  I spend far, far too much of my time in 3/4 spandex, race tees, and my dreads pulled into a top knot.  Seriously, I once had an boyfriend tell me that he was embarrassed to be seen with me in the outfits I’d pieced together between Target and local consignment stores.  Ouch.

Aforementioned top knot.
Aforementioned top knot.

There are, however, a few things that I love.  I love my nail polish.  I love fresh cosmetics.  I live for my white Michael Kors watch.  And the minute that I have more of a disposable income, all the money won’t just go to spandex and extra deodorant, it will also go to flushing out my weird Brooklyn wardrobe.

Now, Bravo is launching a couple of shows that I’m so excited about (in addition to Real Housewives of Atlanta, Millionaire Matchmaker, and Shahs of Sunset and Toned Up, featuring our own Karena and Katrina ), but I caught something called Courtney Loves Dallas that I totally fell in love with the other night.

Courtney Kerr was a cast member of Bravo’s ‘Most Eligible Dallas,” and she wrangled her own show out of Andy Cohen, a show called ‘Courtney Loves Dallas,’ a show where she’s looking for love, but her fashion is front and center.  Designers took notice, especially after ‘Most Eligible,’ and started sending her pieces to wear (swoon), and the first episode of the season featured her fabulous existence, her fabulous nail polish, and a not-so-fabulous quest to find a new man.  Oh well.  We’ve all been there.

At any rate, I found myself inspired to write, inspired to paint my apartment, paint my nails (again), and throw on an outfit that contained 0 Dri-Fit material.  The girl is making money, writing and doing what she loves?  Sign me up!  So once again, check her out, especially if you’re a girl after my own heart.  You love to work hard, but play hard and colorfully too!
